Consulting: Shaping Living Experiences
Lifestyle Design reaches far beyond fabric and furniture to improve the way people experience their living and working spaces. With an emphasis on comfort, growth and community, we offer practical tools and uncomplicated ideas that are easy to implement. By blending her Four Basics for Balanced Living with established interior design principals, Christine initiates positive change in living environments.
Initial Consultations:
An initial consultation combines discussion of lifestyle priorities with a walk-through of actual or envisioned space. In this and subsequent sessions, the goal is on creating surrounding and routines that make sense on a personal level. Residential and commercial clients range from first-time homeowners and home sellers to emply-nesters established families.
Ongoing Consultation:
Sometimes an initial consultation may be all that is needed, but there is an advantage of having me as the part of the design team – to be your advocate for the lifestyle that you are after. This can be done on an hourly basis or by retainer.
Though each situation varies, an effective format might involve two to four subsequent meetings. This can be done with or without any members of your design/construction team:
- As the design process is starting to take shape.
- Before the plans are approved. (We recommend this as much to take advantage of any opportunities that might present themselves as to help the client stay focused on the target. It is easy to lose sight of the big picture when there are so many small details involved.)
- About mid-way through construction – and definitely before electrical work is completed. (Lighting is key and it is so much cheaper to do it right in the first place than to come back with changes lifestyle goal they are after).
- Toward the end of the construction (before painting). (To weigh in on client concerns and offer functional and aesthetic suggestions that will add to the livability of the space.)
In addition, we recommend reading the book, Comfort Living: A Back-to-Basics Guide to a More Balanced Lifestyle and using The Comfort Living Journal during the consulting prcess as well as attending any presentations. Throughout the process, the focus is always on how to best create space that will reinforce the way you want to live.
A home should not look like a page out of a magazine. It should be authentic and an evolving expression of who you really are and what you value in life. - Christine Eisner
