An Excursion to Scott’s - A Half Day Turns You Into a Scott’s Insider!
Friday, August 7th, 9:30 am – 1 pm
Fee: $100 per person, $175 for you and a friend
After a hiatus this spring to work on my book. There have been many requests to go back to Scott’s so…I’m going back to in August! Feedback on these trips is 100% positive and participants leave feeling empowered to make the most of their return visits. Last fall, the Atlanta Journal & Constitution did a half page feature on the cover of its Home Section (go to the In the Press page to read it), So take a break from your normal summer routine and join me! Summer is a great time to get out there and deals abound!
We will be doing a walk-and-talk-through of America’s largest antiques marketplace. Along the way, I will offer practical tools on “doing Scott’s” and introduce you to dealer friends, including one that deals exclusively to the trade. Of course, I will be talking about Lifestyle Design and balanced living througout our journey.
Even if you already are a Scott’s regular, you will leave with a fresh perspective on making the most of a resource like this — and much more. Plan to wear walking shoes - we’ll be on the move!
Here’s what’s in store:
1st Stop: The North Building
Get the lay of the land, how things work and my approach for making the most of your time and money. Of course, we’ll be visiting dealers along the way and talking specifics as well.
2nd Stop: Love Train Antiques (Open to the trade only)
We will hear from owner Mark Sage about how fill 17 containers of truly unique Belgian, Scandinavian and French antiques each year. You’ll learn how he makes his choices, and he will also offer you the trade discount on Love Train purchases that day.
3rd Stop: The South Building
This building is just as vast as the North, with just as many vendors. Here, we’ll meet more of my dealer friends and continue to talk about how your finds can actually be used to enhance the energy in your living spaces, not just their appearance.

A Special Home Tour in Buckhead for LD Alumni & Friends
Wednesday, May 6, 2009, 10:00 am - noon
Fee: Complimentary (Spaces are Limited)
Here it is again, my annual Lifestyle Home Tour — a complimentary gesture of thanks to current and past Lifestyle Design participants and friends! On last year’s tour, interior designer Sarah Steinfeld took us through her brilliantly renovated home in Ansley Park. The year before that, we experienced a lifestyle inspired throughout by the owners’ passion for the works of Kandinsky, Chihuly and other artists. This year, my friend, Katie Walker has agreed to walk us through her home in Buckhead which was just featured in 16 pages of the March issue of Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles. I hope you can join us!
Katie was the creative force behind the design and construction of this very personal, yet truly fabulous home, built in 1999. Her design team included architect Keith Summerour. “The idea was to create a sculptural home,” Katie explains. Her inspiration came from Philippe Starck, Frank Lloyd Wright and homes in the Hamptons, along with an Asian aesthetic in the exterior spaces. An especially fabulous kitchen is at the heart of some pretty serious cooking, and the entire house lends itself to their love of entertaining in the most creative ways. This home was perfectly described as “Art as Inspiration, Inside and Out” in a recent article in The Atlanta Journal Constitution’s Home Section.
Their home is a reflection of all of that and much more. Over the years, these surroundings have been shaped and re-shaped, as children have grown up and new-found passions and interests have come to the forefront. Given their love of design, art and entertaining, it is no surprise that furnishings and artwork are not tied down to permanent resting places, but instead, are always open to reinterpretation.

Testimonials:
“Christine has helped me create several rooms of “campfires” that have made our new home very warm and inviting. I have noticed since she worked with us that we are using the common areas more. The three teenagers are actually leaving their rooms and computers and hanging out with us. :) Amazing!” -M.R.
“… I also want to let you know that your course had a big impact on the way I think about home and balance. I continue to implement your suggestions and home to put a lot of your ideas in to play in my new home.” -M.P. (3 years after attending the workshop)
“I love the way you run your workshop. I know my husband would really get into it too. I am already formulating ideas that have been brewing in my head. Thank you!” - J.H.
“If I say that workshop changed the course of my life I would not be exaggerating. I was so consumed by maintaining my environment I had forgotten how to live in it. Now, not only is my home well organized, it represents the way my family lives. The workshop helped prioritize what was most important and what was just taking up energy, space or time. These things are not always obvious at first. I cannot believe how much information you gave to us in such a relaxed and open way.” -J.H. (one year later)
